CHINATOWN: FILM NOIR W/ PINOT NOIR TASTING

JUNE 2

What's the best Film Noir ever made in color? "Forget it, Jake- it's Chinatown." Firmly film-noir but subversive with a vibe born of the cynical 70's, Chinatown is beautifully shot sun-drenched mystery blended with psychological intrigue.

Directed by controversial auteur Roman Polanski, Chinatown features an Academy Award winning screenplay by Robert Towne- often cited as perhaps the best ever written in its mix of narrative structure, character development, political themes, and plot twists. Simply put- Chinatown is a genre masterpiece and one of the greatest movies ever made! See it here in a recent 4k restoration on the big screen and enjoy this classic Film Noir with a Pinot Noir tasting pre-film (featuring 2 Pinots).

When Los Angeles private eye J.J. "Jake" Gittes (Jack Nicholson) is hired by Evelyn Mulwray to investigate her husband's activities, he believes it's a routine infidelity case. Jake's investigation soon becomes anything but routine when he meets the real Mrs. Mulwray (Faye Dunaway) and realizes he was hired by an imposter. Mr. Mulwray's sudden death sets Gittes on a tangled trail of corruption, deceit and sinister family secrets as Evelyn's father (John Huston) becomes a suspect in the case.

1974, 4k DCP, masterfully directed by Roman Polanski, produced by Hollywood legend Robert Evans.

Doors open for tasting at 6:45.
