UNZIPPED (4K RESTORATION)

OCTOBER 6

This behind-the-scenes documentary takes a lighthearted look at the fashion industry through the launch of New York City designer Isaac Mizrahi's 1994 fall collection. The film explores the inspirations Mizrahi drew from to create the line -- which include Eskimos and "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" -- while revealing the harried reality of mounting a major fashion show. Along the way, a number of bold-faced fashion icons and actors crop up, including John Galliano to Richard Gere.

Released to critical acclaim in 1995, “Unzipped” not only highlights the boisterous, charismatic Mizrahi as he set out to put his imprint on haute couture, it also features a who’s who of models like Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, Kate Moss and Linda Evangelista, as well as celebrities like Eartha Kitt and Richard Gere. Directed by Douglass Keeve, the film presents a fly-on-the-wall portrait of Mizrahi’s creative process. Keeve and Mizrahi were dating at the time, but making the film contributed to the collapse of their relationship.

The restored version of this hilarious cult-classic fashion documentary is a 30th Anniversary Re-Release by Janus Films.“’Unzipped’ is a perfect encapsulation, a freezing in time forever, of the middle 1990s in the fashion business, a very happy time in my life” Mizrahi said in a statement.
