THE HOLDOVERS W/ LIVE MUSIC BY AVI JACOB

DECEMBER 11

Director Alexander Payne's (Sideways) 5-time Academy Award nominated comedy-drama THE HOLDOVERS has already become a Christmas classic. Set in the 1970's with a great period-soundtrack this screening is complimented by a live concert by Folk-Rock musician Avi Jacob playing songs from the movie & era pre-film!

A curmudgeonly instructor (Paul Giamatti) at a New England prep school remains on campus during Christmas break to babysit a handful of students with nowhere to go. He soon forms an unlikely bond with a brainy but damaged troublemaker (Dominic Sessa), and with the school's head cook Da’Vine Joy Randolph, a woman who just lost a son in the Vietnam War.

Nominated for Best Picture, Best Actor (Giamatti), Best Original Screenplay (David Hemingson), and winning Best Supporting actress for Da'Vine Joy Randolph at the 2023 Academy Awards.

Hailing from Dartmouth Mass, Avi Jacob is an accomplished guitar player & vocalist who recently had a Bob Dylan tribute residency at Providence's Music mansion, writes & performs his own music, and hopes to play the 2026 Newport Folk Festival. He has performed as direct support for many great artists including the Marcus King Band, Dr. John, the Lone Bellow, Mipso, and Susto. Avi is committed to using his powerful voice as an artist for the greater good. Live performance is sacred to Avi, and he remains on a mission to create life-changing moments where music can act as a point of movement and connection.
