APRIL 22
"What's the first rule of Fight Club?" We can't stay silent- one of the most iconic cult classics ever made is back on the big screen!
Experience Fight Club remastered in stunning 4K quality for a national re-release one night only Wednesday, April 22nd. Directed by David Fincher, this dark satire stars Brad Pitt and Edward Norton. Norton gives a riveting performance as a label-obsessed insomniac who befriends a scummy soap salesman (Pitt) and embarks on an existential crusade that takes them both to the brutal, raw heights of their manhood. Also starring Helena Bonham Carter as the woman who comes between them, Fight Club may leave you feeling bruised and bloodied…but also invigorated and alive.
A chaotic parable about unchecked consumerism and the crisis of modern masculinity, Fight Club had big expectations upon release tied to the IP (novel by Chuck Palahniuk), and talent involved... only to epically bomb with audiences and shell-shock critics. But Fight Club set historic records for home-media sales, with DVD rentals alone soon eclipsing $60 million. If you went to college in the 2000's you saw approximately 37 dorm rooms with the poster on the wall. Tyler Durden became a house-hold name. Quotes like "The first rule of Fight Club is you don't talk about Fight Club" became common parlance and "It's only after we've lost everything that we're free to do anything" became credo.
Critics came round big time to the haymaker combo of Fincher's frenetic style and social commentary and Fight Club's ambiguous interpretations have since become the spirited subject of scholarly debate and endless fan fascination. This new 4k remaster was supervised by David Fincher and can only be seen in cinema.
