TURAS LIVE- AN IRISH CHRISTMAS CONCERT!

Join us for a special musical evening of Irish holiday music played by local-favorite Irish band TURAS! An intimate yet rousing showcase of traditional Irish tunes expertly played by locally based but internationally known musicians, this concert is a cheerfully cozy way to get ready for Christmas. Featuring a mix of classic Irish ballads and holiday tunes such Christmas Eve Reel, Miss Fogarty's Christmas Cake, Silent Night, and Auld Lang Syne, and much more Irish musical magic!

Two 45 minute sets of music starting at 7pm, with a 15 minute intermission. Tickets $20, $18 for members. Doors open at 6:15.

ABOUT TURAS MEMBERS:

Bob Drouin is a multi-instrumentalist who was a co-founder of the Celtic band Pendragon and a
co-founder of the Blackstone River Theatre. He has also been anchoring the Irish Music Session at Patrick's Pub in Providence for over 2 decades. Bob plays banjo, bouzouki and fiddle, and is a vocalist with Turas.

Josh Kane is a traditional Irish musician and vocalist from Cranston, Rhode Island. He has competed ni several All-Ireland competitions, placing 2nd in 2007, and placed several times in other competitions both stateside and in Ireland. Josh plays flute and whistle, and is a vocalist with Turas.

Dean Robinson is a percussion performer from Bristol, Rhode Island. He has competed in three All-Ireland bones competitions, conducts music workshops and plays regularly at Irish music sessions in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Dean plays bodhran, bones, percussion and whistle, and is a vocalist with Turas.

Matt Cook began his musical career in the early 1980's at Old Sturbridge Village with the fife and drum corps. He is a co-founder of the Celtic group Full Gael and has performed with the groups Kindred Spirits and Morning Star Consort and with the late fiddler Sharon Hall. Matt plays flute, uilleann pipes and whistle and is a vocalist with Turas.

Gary Palmer is a retired Coast Guard Captain with a love for Irish music. He is a co-founder of the Celtic group Full Gael and has studied Irish music with guitarist Paul Oorts. Gary has been influenced by the playing styles of John Doyle, Donnogh Hennessey, and Artie McGlynn. Gary plays guitar and is a vocalist with Turas.
