RI Slave History Medallions is a place-based education program with a mission to bring about an awareness of the injustices perpetuated by a system of domination and control through the use of slave labor. This organization seeks to identify and mark sites throughout the state  that have a historical connection to the enslavement of indigenous people and Africans, either by the involvement in the slave trade and the economy of slavery, or by their association with the lives and labor of enslaved people themselves.
