Moonrise Kingdom: Filmed in Newport, Opening Night Film at Cannes Film Festival & Playing this summer at the JPT

The Rhode Island Film & TV Office says Wes Anderson’s “Moonrise Kingdom’’ will open the 12-day Cannes Film Festival in May.
Executive Director Steven Feinberg says it’s an honor the film was selected and that he’s proud of local residents who worked on the production.
He says the movie presents a “visually stunning Rhode Island postcard’’ to an international audience.
